2004 Summerwood Syrah Paso Robles - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (2/1/2010)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over 4 hours –
NOSE: oak; rich; soft dark fruits; tight to moderately expressive; not complex; the occasional hint of alcohol.
BODY: black cherry color of medium-deep to deep depth; lots of fine particulate matter; full bodied. (cork had “2005” branded on it, but both front and back labels were for the 2004 – odd).
TASTE: smooth; very ripe fruit - masked by lots of oak and some alcohol taste; soft - very gentle tannins; not much acid; a tad bitter; not complex; 15.4% alc.; over-extracted; standard issue warm (hot) climate Central Coast syrah. Not bad, not great, rather boring. This was better a couple years ago. Drink now.
B: 50, 5, 10, 13, 6 = 84
