TN: 2004 St Innocent Seven Springs Special Selection PN

Thanks for the note. It has been a while for me on this one. I liked it a lot and my notes to reflect the poopiness. It was over a year ago since I had it but I didn’t finish the bottle for a few days but the wine still seemed a bit disjointed. Seems like that is starting to sort out a bit.

I hear ya. I am not to sensitive to that funkyness. That is what has often drawn me to pinot. Agreed that more time will work with this. Lots of oak on this but with all the other elements to keep it nicely balanced.

I think I will run up to St Innocent tomorrow and do a little sipping. Probably hit Bethel and Cristom also. I doubt they have bottled their 08 yet but I might get lucky.

Nice living in the WV if you like Pinot

If you can get in, Patty Green has most of their 08s ready.

Thanks for the update on this. I see that it’s been nearly three years since I opened a bottle, and it doesn’t sound like it has budged a whole lot. Mine was also kind of out of sorts on the nose, a strong oak influence for sure. But I’m glad to hear you also found things working together on the palate. That gives me hopes for this one, but my other bottles will see a number of years before I check back in.

Was on the Eola loop a couple weekends ago. St. Innocent was pouring a nice lineup of 07, mostly very tight/closed to me. I thought they showed good promise and bought some, but to me hard to get a handle on at this point.
Cristom was still pouring all 06 Pinots other than the Mt Jeff.

For me these are both agers, so thanks for the note on the 2004.
