Holy Moly! This is amazing.
Pop & pour. Velvety red/black and glass coating like no ones business. The nose is all black cherry, blueberry pie, summer morning fresh river rocks, tar, coffee, plums, and some notes of creme de kirsch! After about a half dozen times tasted, THIS is the single best showing of a perennial pobega favorite. All elegance and structure with nada, zilch nothing flawed whatsoever. Perfect balance and harmony of red and black fruits: blackcherries, blackberries, blueberries, cardamom, red plums, & boysenberries. Violets, warm caramel, a hint of graphite, leather, and river rocks-- Wow. This is truly mind boggling in its precision, delivery and focus. Pure, elegant, classy, and just damn tasty. The tannins are resolved, the acid is balanced, the fruits are alive, the mouthfeel is grandiose, and the finish is ultra long. Have you figured that I like this one a lot? I don’t. I LOVE it. agree completely Mike, we have spoken about the Herculean effort before. Abe crushed with this bottle and told me this past summer he thinks it is about as good as it is gonna get. i have 2 bottles left.
Thanks for the great post. We had the 05 Babylon Tenebrink Vnyd last night, which was quite nice. I’m still trying to get a handle on all of his wines, but have certainly enjoyed the process!

I haven’t opened one of these in a long while. Finding the sweet spot on the Scholium wines is always a challenge, so I am always happy to read TNs like yours. It sounds like it is time to put my bottles in the drinking queue.
Chris, the 4-6 different ones I have had all tell me one thing: Trying to get a handle on them all is a job in itself. they are all so diverse, which keeps it fun! Seeing where they go is just as fun. From my first sip of this back in August, 2006, I can say this: It has sure evolved from a very being tightly wound, to giving its all. Nice watching it over a three and a half year period. Glad I have 10 more.
Very glad to see one of my favorite Abe reds is still alive and well. I think (hope) I have 1 left and may have to locate it for a weekend opening. Great note.
