2004 Rivers-Marie Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (6/22/2009)
Deep dark purple, all the way to the rim. Extremely open nose at the moment, bright fruits, hint of vanilla just gorgeous right out of the bottle. Nice fruit, more red fruits than I would have expected which is a nice addition. With time the tannins become more evident, though throughout the couple hours we consumed this bottle the balance was one of the chief factors. A fantastic bottle of wine. (92 pts.)

Agreed, it’s really nice juice. Frankly, I wouldn’t shed one tear if TRB gave up Pinot and concentrated SVDs of Cab.
This was my first rivers, so I can’t suggest anyone quit making Pinot yet. I have a nice mix of the 07 pinots to try sometime soon, but wanted to pop a cab before the next order comes out. Based on this bottle I’m going to be looking for as many kind souls as possible to share in the allocations.
Thanks for the note Andrew. Haven’t opened one in a while. Sounds like it is coming along.
Now lets not get carried away Eric.
Easy there Eric - we all love TRB’s cabs but this is just crazy talk.
I enjoyed this wine a lot. Thanks for the note. I think I am down to 1 bottle (that’s what cellar tracker says , although I thought I had 2) and I am going to hold it, against my better judgment but there are those who claim this will improve. Curiosity has me although it is hard to imagine it being better.

Tried to check my account at the RM site but it was down
Com’n guys. Pinot’s dead. It just hasn’t gotten the news yet.
I drink much less pinot than I did – but I very much drink/buy/love Rivers Marie pinot.
R-M Chard is killer as well. I’m going to load up on those next time around.
Big oaky sweet styled Cabs are a dime…make that a C-Note a dozen in California. I wish TRB was doing something different with the Cabs.
His Pinots are terrific though.
Yo, get your own thread. This is all about the Cab! That said, his Pinots are delicious.
