I have been drinking through my 2004 pinots and they are a mixed bag - heres another disappointment…

2004 Rhys Alesia Pinot Noir Sonatera Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (7/1/2009)
bretty, spritzy, cherry, orange rind, menthol, oil/tar spill
my least favorite Rhys (84 pts.)

Rhys is making great wine but the 2004 Sonatera is really not very good. Your note about sums it up.

I must have had a good bottle. Certainly not an earth shattering experience but nothing like this.

I wish that my recent bottle was as good as yours, Scott (much less yours, Russ). But the 2004 Alesia Kanzler last week was very good indeed.
