My 1200th Cellar Tracker tasting note and it’s a fantastic $35 Barolo.

2004 Podere Ruggeri Corsini Barolo San Pietro - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (6/7/2009)
I’ve been wow’d tonight by a young Barolo that’s masquerading as a much older wine. Decanted for about 90 minutes, this wine was fabulous. Nice bit of acidity and and on the nose and palate there is a touch of earthiness that screams out for attention and leads you to believe that this wine is much more aged then it really is. It’s almost a Bordeaux like earthiness and the only thing that leads you away from that direction is the relatively higher acidity and ripe red berry flavors. This is excellent right now and at $35 one of the best value Barolo’s that I have had. I will certainly pick up at least a couple more bottles of this wine asap. (93 pts.)
