Dude, you know I hate to read a lot.
Please, some brevity next time.
And, 93? No way. More like a 91.345
Inflator.
Who needs notes? The points tell me all I need to know. [d_sunny.gif] Glitch? Mike?
Good to see you posting in any case.
Thanks for the points. That is the best Pax I have ever tasted.
Jason
OK, here you go, for those ‘numerically challenged’ of you. A really nice wine and a break from my usual choices.
TN: 2004 Pax Cuvée Moriah (USA, California, Sonoma County)
Medium reddish ruby color. The nose is pure joy of red cherries, rose petals, with a touch of crushed pebbles and blueberries. The palate has a wonderful medium mouth feel with those red fruits of cherries, plums, red currant, and rose water. A slightly elevated acid level never really subsided, but never really felt negative. A deep and loud mid-palate with some white crushed pepper, anise, soy and tar. This really had much going for it. The tannins were very low key. The finish went on for 1 plus minute. I can say this is probably one of the top 5 Grenache based wines I have truly enjoyed. I find no middle ground as its either love or hate, and this is pure unadulterated love.
Mike, tough crowd. I merged your “93” note in with your real one on CT.
Thanks, Eric.
Mike - I tasted this wine a week or so ago and agree with your review (and the rating!). I generally really like what I find from a 5-6 year old Pax Syrah.
Mike, Pax is at the sweetspot from 5-9ish+/-
I’ve got to pull some of these out of storage. I’ve taken down all (almost all?) of my pre-'04 Pax wines, although I’ve got cases and cases in storage.
If anyone wants to buy some Pax from me at my cost, feel free to PM me.
Thanks for the notes, Mike.
