2004 Mount Eden Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate Bottled - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (5/1/2012)
Last bottle, opened to pair with first wild king salmon of the season. Popped and poured. Still fairly dark ruby. Nose of fresh raspberry and iodine with some stony notes and whiffs of Indian spice tea. Beautiful, elegant entry on the palate wtih layers of bing cherry, mulberry, and red raspberry displayed with growing persistence and admirable clarity. Remains refreshingly acidic while tannins are nicely smoothed-off. Long, lingering finish of red, brambly fruit mixed with mineral and grip. Outstanding tonight but clearly able to age further for many years. (92 pts.)
