TN: 2004 Mount Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Estate

Popped this last night for the ribeye and fingerlings course of our French Laundry menu…outstanding old world Cab that will still be great for many years! [wow.gif]
TN: 2004 Mount Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Estate
Decanted for 5 hours. Old world nose, some fruit, leather, earth. Palate hits like a velvet hammer. Cloaked in structure, yet there is delicious red fruit, vanilla notes and a long, chewy finish. Built to last…Everyone liked this despite its youth. Good now, perhaps outstanding in 10 years. Wonderful with the dead cow. [berserker.gif]

These are really nice wines but wound up pretty tight. An hour or two in the decanter and they will show you what they can be in the next five years. Had 6 of these and now down to 3, hard to keep my hands off them as they are just so good.

Will be interesting to follow this one for some time. I have two more, buried them a bit deeper last night.

Thanks for the note. I got some mags of this too. I just shipped a bottle to my buddy Gutting so we can pop one in Houston in the near future.
