TN: 2004 Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Klopp Ranch (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley)

  • 2004 Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Klopp Ranch - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (6/11/2009)
Deep ruby. Beautiful dark berry-laden nose, with exotic spice and floral accompaniments. Medium-to-full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity, medium silky tannins, blackberry, raspberry and exotic spice flavors. The middle is solid and the lengthy finish is smooth. You won’t confuse this with Burgundy, but this is fine Russian River Pinot which is what it is. Vive la difference! I believe that another year or two of cellaring will lead to further improvement. Thereafter, if the track record of Merry Edwards’s Klopp bottlings is any prediction, the wine should remain beautiful for at least another five years. Drink 1/11-12/16. (93 pts.)

Sorry, but I’m replying to myself. I’m having fun learning about this new forum. I need a new “home,” although (as of now) I am still not officially banned from the other forum. This is like a blast from the past. I am seeing names from folks that used to add so much to my wine knowledge (and fun). Good to see you guys again!

OMG! I’m perusing this forum and seeing some old online buddies (folks who used to make the ******* forum good). Hi guys!!!

Welcome Colin!

Love the Klopp and still have a case of the 04 in my cellar. It’s the only ME I buy regularly year in and year out.

Chris-

My favorite too…The '99 is absolutely amazing at this point. I suspect that the '04 will be there in another 2-3 years.

Best regards,

Colin

heh…a few of us have SEVERAL '99s left, Colin… not that I’d want to boast, but… [tease.gif]
