I don’t have much experience with this Winery…probably last had their cab in the early '90’s. I can become a huge fan QUICK, with wines like this! 90% Cab, 7% Merlot, 3% CF…the color is dark purple like a barrel sample. The nose, a little grapey, with exotic wood, crushed black cherry, dusty mint spice. LOVE the mouth feel! Silky smooth, yet firm, but not searing dry tannin, and not sweet either. With most of today’s Cali cabs, they’re too sweet, which I don’t particularly like…this has good ripe fruit, yet a nice graphite dryness to it toning down the sweetness…and not being masked by a wall of tannins. The fruit is still pretty primary, little grapey, but right now the wine has a killer exotic, deep and rich flavor profile of mahogany wood, fresh green herbs, graphite powder, cherries jubilee. 13% alcohol is refreshing, the mouthfeel is very appealing, and age is your friend here…with another 5+years will really bring out something special! Super wine! Could go 3+pts higher. (93 pts.)

Thanks Buzz, I don’t need to support any more wineries, but I’ve been thinking of checking in with Mayacamas.

We have one bottle of this, and I’m trying to force myself to hold it for a long time. Brilliant producer.

Definitely wait on it if you can. Their winemaking style has aging in mind. Tasted the 81 cab at the winery recently and it was fantastic.

I agree, my notes are pretty similar. This is a superb wine. Yeah, it’s a no-doubter to age but it shows so amazing now it’s still worth drinking. I would actually sooner open this than a lot of the '90s vintages, which still need more time to reopen.

Thanks Keith…your note propelled me to get these from PC awhile back. Looks like they still have 375’s, which might be fun for some pop-n-pours when you get the urge. But I still would sit on a few 750’s to see just how good this thing can get.
