This is just a lovely, if young bottle. Soaring aromatics of asphalt, spring florals and dutch liquorice. In the mouth it has real volume and authority, yet the mouthfeel is silken due to the well covered tannins. Just a pup, but a real pleasure to imbibe…so good that Christine missed out on a glass when she returned home from work… back to the dog house pour moi!!
I so want to start exploring the various '04s in my cellar, but I just can’t pull the trigger! Thank you for at least letting me live vicariously through you notes. C’mon folks… start pop’n so I don’t have to! I’ll be in Piemonte in 3 short weeks - maybe i’ll get to revisit the vintage then.
I quite like veglio’s wines. Discovered him in 96 and they’ve been consistently good. People focus so much on the Giacosa’s of the region, but there are a lot of very nice producers out there. Veglio’s one.
