TN: 2004 M. Chapoutier Côte-Rôtie Les Bécasses

  • 2004 M. Chapoutier Côte-Rôtie Les Bécasses - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie (8/30/2009)
Bought a case of this wine recently in Berry Bros sale as I love Chapoutier Cote Rotie and could not resist the special price of less than £16 a bottle.

Rarely drink wines this young and decanted it for 4 hours.

On the nose reminds me a lot of one of Chris Mullineux wines;loads of violets and raspberries. It is very smooth with good structure and balance. Lots of bramble fruits, spice, vanilla and the viognier adds a real perfumed character to it.Quite elegant and a food friendly wine that I should think appears on many restaurant wine lists…Not sure how this will age but suspect it will be fine for another 10 years or so and I am glad I have another 11 bottles. Very good/excellent. (90 pts.)
