TN: 2004 La Famille Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin La Gibryo

  • 2004 La Famille Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin La Gibryotte - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin (3/1/2011)
Definitely has a moderate amount of the 2004 green vintage character, but in this wine I find it to be not so mean. Underneath it is good Gevrey fruit, in a package that packs quite a tannic wallop. There is beauty to be found in the fruit here too, and if you’re not particularly sensitive to the stalky green notes, this is actually an above-average feeling village wine. From negociant juice, not estate. I think there is significant chance that this wine will really blossom if the green dissipates with age; in any case, more than worth the price I paid for this. 90+, unless you are sensitive to the green meanies, in which case avoid.
