2004 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (9/7/2009)
Simply a beautiful young Spat, as its youthful mineral profile on the nose grew by leaps and bounds as it sat in the glass. Ripe pineapple and cherry skins were buffered by a sleek acidity, and a long memorable finish. Early in its development yes, but delicious for sure. (92 pts.)

2004 Fontodi Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna del Sorbo - Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico (9/7/2009)
This is my second go round with this wine and so far two for two. Any thoughts of the wine being shut down were quickly put to rest as a awesome notes of deep pitched cherry and balsam were paired by just developing tones of fresh shaved cedar. The palate was class in the glass, so elegant, but in no hurry to show you everything at once. Brilliant acidity to off set the deep set red fruit make this the pinnacle of a food pairing red wine, at least for my palate. Long finish, that just got better and better. I have just two bottles left, which has me concerned that they will never see maturity, given the enjoyment they cause at present. (94 pts.)

2005 Cayuse Grenache God Only Knows - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (9/7/2009)
Decanted 1hr. This wine has really filled in fleshed out since I had this last November. Though on a smaller scale, the Cayuse trademark was present on the nose, offering plenty of funk and animal fur. A round, almost spherical wine, great palate flavors of strawberry fruit, almost liquor like in its weight, but not over ripe or sweet, quite a balancing act. I really noted strong flavors of hot stones and white pepper, which give the wine its own unique identity and personality. Long, resonating finish. Should drink well today, and for a good 5 years ahead. (93 pts.)
