TN: 2004 Guillemot Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru "Serpentieres"

2004 Guillemot Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru "Serpentieres"

Aroma: Hard, vegetal

On the palate: Green. Green, green, green. Green, green, green, green, green, green, green, green. Finish is unpleasantly green.

Notes: Guillemot is a producer that, until now, I have had good luck with. For example even the 2003’s may be a bit primary and fruity, but it’s not bad wine. This was the first of six bottles, and it’s the only 2004 Red Burgundy I purchased. It was a bit of a shock. Spoke to my local retailer about them and they took back the bottles.

Haven’t tried the wine in question but I’ve had my share of 04’s that fit that description :frowning:

Too bad but good on the retailer. I have had better luck with 04s than most … although I have had very few bottles and I am not adverse to a little green as long as they are not mean.

Agreed. Don’t mind lean at all. I like Loire Cab Franc and Red Burgundies. But with this wine there were No Redeeming Qualities. [bleh.gif]
