2004 Feudo Maccari Nero d’Avola Saia - Italy, Sicily, Sicilia IGT (2/8/2012)
Popped and poured. Full dense ruby color with lightening edges. Smoky earth notes on the bouquet along with plum, raspberry, coffee and spice. Dark musky ripe fruit on the palate with hints of slate, graphite and earth. Juicy acid and smooth yet rustic feel. Firm tannins along a lingering finish with hints of cedar and black pepper as well as the fruit. The fruit on this is hitting its stride, still needs a little time on the acid and tannin. (91 pts.)
