TN: 2004 DuMOL Chardonnay Russian River Valley

Dinner at Gulfstream. A terrific expression of California Chardonnay. Shed of its primary fruit and oak structure, this wine exhibits crisp notes of white peaches, lime zest, lemon pulp, wet stones and almond slivers. Refined on the palate with a bright acidity. Fantastic with lump crab cakes. (91 pts.)

In a hot vintage Andy smith rocks. One of the best ca winemakers

Indeed, even when young it displayed no signs of over-ripeness. 5 years later, it’s still totally in balance and delicious.

An update.

My last bottle and the best showing of this wine. Honeyed notes of white peaches, kiwi fruit, and lemon custard. Picks up some caramel and walnuts on the mid palate. The finish is complex and reminiscent of Jura. Impressive from beginning to end. (92 pts.)
