Cork 85% saturated, but no signs of seepage. Murky color, flat, not shiny. Soaring nose of Asian spice, some mint, raspberry and iodine. Smelled fresh and crisp, but had nuances of a 20 yr old burg. On the palate, nice acidity, but lacks the flesh that would make this wine unreal. All in all, a little bit short, and the finish is a bit short as well. I really want to try her '04 VR. Im hoping this will gain some weight and flesh out. Point wise, I give the nose a 94 and the taste a 91.
2nd bottle. Cork 100% saturated, signs of seepage outside wax, visible wine between top of cork and wax. Same murky color as first bottle, nose very tight and acidic, smelled spoiled. First glass was very acidic, and super green. Nothing in the way of any fruit. Nowhere near the experience of the 1st bottle. After the second glass, the wine warmed up and exhibited some clove, tomato, but more unripeness than the first bottle. Might have been a bad bottle, but I havent drank enough to be able to tell. Taste was acidic, no flesh at all, rather flat, with no finish. Not a very good drink. nose 91 taste 87.
I had this new years eve and i think you’re right. It’s just an ok btl of wine. There was nothing special on the palate that was worth mentioning.
