2004 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée- France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (9/24/2009)
Mmm, this vintage is drinking awfully well. Not a huge Pegau, but man this is lovely. A rambunctious nose of white pepper, roasted plums, and a hint of beef blood. Mmm, nice palate, clean, rich, a bit of bitter cocoa, dusty and spicy. Very solid. I was perhaps a bit less excited than prior bottles, but this awfully delicious. (93 pts.)
Glad it worked out. Last time I posted a note on this wine a few months ago some people opened, and at least one (Paul Jaouen) didn’t agree that it was at a good point to drink. I thought it was terrific. Will probably drink more soon.
Thanks for the note. I haven’t opened one of mine yet but it did get to try a glass of a friends bottle and I thought it was awesome. It was about 18 months ago and the wine had actually spent 24 hours in a decanter.
