TN: 2004 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée

  • 2004 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (9/24/2009)
Mmm, this vintage is drinking awfully well. Not a huge Pegau, but man this is lovely. A rambunctious nose of white pepper, roasted plums, and a hint of beef blood. Mmm, nice palate, clean, rich, a bit of bitter cocoa, dusty and spicy. Very solid. I was perhaps a bit less excited than prior bottles, but this awfully delicious. (93 pts.)

Your note inspired me to pop one of mine. Excellent wine and really is drinking wonderfully right now.

Glad it worked out. Last time I posted a note on this wine a few months ago some people opened, and at least one (Paul Jaouen) didn’t agree that it was at a good point to drink. I thought it was terrific. Will probably drink more soon.

Thanks for the note. I haven’t opened one of mine yet but it did get to try a glass of a friends bottle and I thought it was awesome. It was about 18 months ago and the wine had actually spent 24 hours in a decanter.
