TN: 2004 Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Unique

  • 2004 Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Unique - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (8/17/2014)
Popped and poured. This seems at peak right now and is showing excellently. Plenty of black olive, black pepper, garrigue, and campfire on the nose. On the palate there’s leather and black olives mixed with plum and blackberry, held together by integrated acidity. Secondary flavors of black peppercorn and garrigue come out with air. Absolutely delicious. (90 pts.)

Ah, reliably graceful ager as always!
Long live Mont Olivet!
(New labels in '12! )

For about $50, this was pretty amazing. I wish I’d purchased more.

On Saturday night we enjoyed “La Cuvee Du Papet” from the same vintage. Didn’t come across as strong as the unique did for you. But the competition was fierce.

Were you with Willenberg? He posted a pic up, said it was super closed down.

yes

I have 1 or 2 bottles left. I’ll let them sit for a while before opening another. The 03 Reserve Sixtine was rocking.

Don’t tell Paul you liked an 03…

He liked it too [wow.gif]

I’m going to use that against him, somehow, some way!

I have some '06 left, $35…?
