As I prepare for our big glutonous feast tomorrow night, I am sipping a really nice '04 Carlilse SCS. Incredible nose that fills the room. Super concentrated and full of glycerin. Blueberries and the ever present scorched earth. Very nice bottle for a Friday night of culinary work.
Nice Bill. I haven’t drank one of these 04s in a while so I need to do that again sometime soon. Here is my TN on the one I did last, which was August 2007.

2004 Carlisle Syrah Sonoma County - USA, California, Sonoma County (8/31/2007)
Selected to pair with a nice tomatoe based pasta dish my wife is cooking tonight. The garden seems to be killing us with tomatoes this year. This wine needs an hour to pick up weight, which it did. Was a little lean and shy at first but now is really showing a nice fleshy, plump blackberry, and a chocolate note has emerged on the finish. For $24, killer QPR.
Night 2–I’m taking the rest of this with me to dinner. Before I leave, tasted again and this is rock solid. Currant, blackberry, blueberry and chocolate. Spicy and medium bodied texture with nice acidity and abit of an earthy, anise tinged finish. Again, the QPR on this is smoking good.
For the $$$ it is stupid good. I popped this in honor of my two cases being shipped next week.
