Birthday wine for my wife, with Maryland crab cakes and a shrimp/ginger/carrot/orange stir fry with rice. She loved it, I thought it was short of truly great, but no doubt very good.

2004 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Beaune du Château - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (4/6/2011)
Medium greenish-gold color. Tight but expressive nose-- honeysuckle, white peaches, with nicely balanced mineral notes that keep it lean. Medium bodied, bright, evolves in the mouth. Very minerally and lemony at first taste, but a silky texture with good body quickly emerges, and has almost a apple/calvados finish. Toast comes out on the finish. Could probably use a touch more acidity. Very good, nicely complex, lacks the depth to make it a truly great wine. (90 pts.)
