TN: 2004 Bond Matriarch (USA, California, Napa Valley)

Very good wine. The color was not as dark as I expected it to be hearing about these super extracted napa wines from producers similar to this. Gorgeous, powerful, pure fruit; there is definitely quite a bit of oak here, but I found the wine to be balanced for my palate. Beautiful, lingering finish. This bottle did not last very long, I really enjoyed this wine. (93 pts.)

Nice. Thanks.

I stopped buying with the 2003 vintage, but this sounds right on target for what I had/have from 1999 to 2003.

Thanks for the note. I thought it was drinking great back in May, so maybe it is hitting its stride this year. Glad I have a couple left.

N- any decant, or pop&pour?

Scott, I have some 05s if you want to do a short vertical tasting

Bond held a formal tasting here in Orlando for the '06 vintage

These wines are huge, very difficult to evaluate, lots of structure. Air barely affected them.
They did pour a couple of older vintages an the '01 Melbury was a beauty.
