TN: 2004 Bernard Morey Chassagne Montrachet Clos St. Jean 1er

From a lot purchased on WC several years ago. This is a rustic Beaune that is enjoyable and worth the modest price paid.

The nose offers up scents of mushrooms, earth, red raspberries and a hint of cardamom. I am sensitive to the greenies and they are thankfully not present.

Rustic and chunky in the mouth the softening tannins lead into more mushrooms and soy sauce with an earth chaser. Not too heavy on the red fruits, light to medium bodied with cleansing acidity.

I would rate the nose as more interesting than the palate and this should go well with tonight’s mushroom ravioli.

Two more hours of air has softened the texture and more fruit has emerged.
