2004 Bellegrave-Van der Voort - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (12/27/2009)
Rather one-dimensional, and ‘spoofalated’ overall - nose is tight, some perfumey florals, bit of red and black fruits, and a good dose of cured meats. On the palate, most of what is there is overwhelmed by bitterness - like an extreme stem-inclusion, which is quite doubtful with the creation of this wine. Some Bordeaux-esque components do show through, but the palate overall seems purposefully ‘soft’ and ripe. This is the type of wine that garners some negativity in Bordeaux, that there is little terroir expression and the wines are highly engineered_(87 pts.)_
