Well, I took my full allocation on release…and this is the first bottle I have opened?!? What strikes me first is how smooth and plush this wine is. Has the rich fruit and killer Ca. Pinot spice…and not a sharp edge to be found. Gorgeous wild berry, strawberry, plumcherry fruit…earth dust, sandalwood spice, oak dipped in cola, lovely dried florals, cranberry tartness. Super balance, tasty with deep flavors…the WS 97 is a little on the high side, even for me…but the Tanzer 85 is crazy! This is tasty Calif. Pinot, drinkin well now! (94 pts.)

I had my one and only bottle last January. On Day 1, Tanzer’s 85 was generous. On Day 2, my notes were almost identical to yours. Thus, I can see how there could be a great deal of discrepancy on the scoring of this wine.

I drank one of these last weekend. It was certainly plush and smooth (almost too much so). Really enjoyed it and a solid 90.

I also had gone for the full allocation (6 bottles) and drank the last bottle a couple of years ago. I caught each and every one of them at a good spot. Still should have been patient, I guess. Thanks for the note.
