2003 Vietti Barbera d’Alba Vigna Vecchia Scarrone - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d’Alba (6/28/2009)
Consistent with previous. Amazing depth and persistence to this wine. The Barbera fruit is the engine which drives this wine, but the floral musk and inky brazen-ness are the carriage which makes this special. -
2003 Vietti Barbera d’Alba Vigna Vecchia Scarrone - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d’Alba (12/16/2008)
Dense and dark colour. Heavy nose with berries and musky floral. Dense on the palate with a lot of weight. Good acids, a tannic mid-structure and a great persistence. Lots more fruit keeps rolling off. Some tar, smoke and ink intermixed. Intense.
