TN: 2003 Vietti Barbera d'Alba Vigna Vecchia Sccarrone

  • 2003 Vietti Barbera d’Alba Vigna Vecchia Scarrone - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d’Alba (6/28/2009)
Consistent with previous. Amazing depth and persistence to this wine. The Barbera fruit is the engine which drives this wine, but the floral musk and inky brazen-ness are the carriage which makes this special.

Dense and dark colour. Heavy nose with berries and musky floral. Dense on the palate with a lot of weight. Good acids, a tannic mid-structure and a great persistence. Lots more fruit keeps rolling off. Some tar, smoke and ink intermixed. Intense.

Wow I had no idea these could age successfully for 1800 years, impressive!

Pizza night tonight. Itchy for some Barbera…

[rofl.gif] Exactly what I was going to comment!

Took me to this morning to figure out what you meant.

If post you multiple tastings notes from the same wine, CT doesn’t put a title on the post.

A.

203 was a great year for Barbera!

Seriously, I love this wine. One of my favorite Barberas.

Wasn’t this pushing 16% or something like that? Or am I thinking of another 03 Barbera?
