2003 Tommaso Bussola L’Errante Veneto IGT - Italy, Veneto, Veneto IGT (2/3/2010)
Ordered off the menu at Chinato in Cleveland ($82). The restaurant is new and they had no decanters yet, but this would have benefited from it. It started tight but once it opened the nose was very good. Cherries, dark cherries, green tobacco as well as some fresh cigar notes. Slightly dusty. Full bodied. I was worried about the 03 vintage being too ripe, but this showed no signs of extremes. I have read this is 80% Merlot but it sure seemed like a good amount of Cab Franc. Plenty of complexity and the last glass was the best as after 1.5 hours, it had really started to open up. Went very well with my Gnocchi (which was light and delicious). (92 pts.)
