TN: 2003 Rhys Alesia Syrah Sonoma Coast (USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast)

My last bottle of this Syrah. One of the more consistently satisfying wines I’ve opened over the past few years. Wouldn’t mind have a few more to check on past age 10.

My ninth bottle of this wine in the past 4 years. I keep thinking this wine will fall down one day, but each bottle continues to give good showings. It’s a dark and brooding Syrah, there is BBQ notes and tar-ish scents on the nose. Palate shows some rich plummy fruit, but acidity is still here and it brings a youthful vibrancy to the palate. Great mouthfeel for a 9 year old CA Syrah. Not especially long, but very nice. Still drinking quite well.

Thanks, Dennis. This has been a great wine from the beginning IMO. I have one in the que for this winter, and one more for the future, maybe than 10-year mark.

Totally agree, has been excellent since the first bottle I popped back in '07.
I’d have no hesitation sitting on bottles for a while. Not showing any signs of decline, imo.
Cheers.

Some still available…
