TN: 2003 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon

  • 2003 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon - France, Champagne (5/24/2014)
Beautiful tiny bubbles and a nice minerality.A bit ripe on the nose. Not sure I’d guess this as DOM blind. Lacking the clear distinction that you expect from an elite cuvee like DP. Or, was it the thick, more narrow, restaurant stemware at Vics hampering the wine’s chance to truly shine? But, at $126 off the list on a perfect 75 degree late MN spring day overlooking the river how could we pass it up. Fun to live like a millionaire once in a while. I see the average CT price paid was $154 so $126 from a restaurant ain’t bad, at all. Next time I’m bringing my own stemware. Served at lunch overlooking the Mississippi river at St Anthony’s Main. It wasn’t the stemware. That’s a great price at a restaurant, though.

Sandwiched between '02 and '04 it really is the ugly duckling of the three, but you can occasionally find it for about a C note. Interesting in its own right.

I’ll, hopefully, enjoy it too , IF Premier Cru ever delivers the case I paid for in July 2012 !!! deadhorse [swoon.gif]

Ha Ha, me too! I keep telling myself to be patient, as it is probably hard to source since there were only a few million bottles produced. pileon
