TN: 2003 Louis Latour Corton-Grancey (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru)

Dark plum in color, looks almost unfiltered. Nose of earthy elements, strawberries, minerals and baking spice - all inviting and in harmony. In the mouth, you get a nice initial red fruit experience with a tremendous acid profile. This is very nicely structured but doesn’t pack a big wallop on the mid palate. The finish then runs off for a while and shows some length and character. This is a nice offering and has a long life ahead of it. Will be interesting to revisit this is several years as it will get better. (92 pts.)

I have a somewhat limited experience with Burgundy, that said, this was a great early experience for me. Not otherworldly by any stretch, yet a wonderful wine which reminds me of what I love about well made Cali Pinot such as Rhys, Rivers Marie, Anthill, Windy Oaks, and a few others. Unfortunately, I can now see why there is such a draw to Burgundy. It should also be mentioned that I obtained this bottle just about a year ago (along with 3 additional bottles) via online auction and the bottle was in great shape.

Great note. Glad you liked it. I will have look out for the '03. Sounds promising that you think it has a future too!

I still think the best 03s will work themselves out.
