2003 Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills - Sta. Rita Hills (3/7/2011)
I was actually sad to stumble across this in my locker. A wine I loved back in 2005 and a wine I figured would hold its own for another 3 or 4 years but for the dreaded neo-cork. I tasted this last in 2007 when Brian came down and we tasted loads of stuff at FMIII’s. That bottle seemed to be out of balance. At that time the news of the neo-cork beginning to spread so I set out to kill any of my bottles that had them, generally with bad results. So I was none to happy when this bottle popped out of a box. Well I found a survivor. The fruit is still abundant but taking on slight secondary flavors. Was this wine better 6 years ago. Sure. But we still very much enjoyed this old friend.
Cheers,
Jason
