TN: 2003 Eric Bordelet Poiré Granit (France, Normandy)

  • 2003 Eric Bordelet Poiré Granit - France, Normandy (4/18/2009)
Dinner with Steve & Barb. Light gold in color and lightly sparkling. Complex flavor of pears ( duh! ). Elegant and long on the finish. Purported to be from 300 year old trees. Surprisingly excellent, a real eye opener. 50+13+13+8.5+8.5 = 93 (93 pts.)

Cool note. I’ve tried Eric’s ciders, but had no idea about whether they’d age or how. Thanks for this update.

I’ve got a bottle of the 2002 I’ve been holding onto as an experiment.
How was the 03 holding up?

The '03 was holding up just fine. Didn’t seem like it would go another decade but didn’t seem like it was about to fall off a cliff either.

Jeff i have a 1998 Eric Bordelet Poire Granite… i was planning to keep it. what should i do?

Timely note, I was just given a bottle of the 06 Sydre Doux by a supplier, which is also on their closeout list. Unfortunately no Poire Granit!

Martin, it’s easy for me to say, but crack open that '98 some time soon and post here. I’d love to see what one of those ciders has done with more than a decade of age.
