2003 E. Guigal St. Joseph- France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph (7/15/2009)
In a good space now. Cigar box, dark berries, black cherry, and cured meat on the nose - very nice. Medium bodied, relatively heavy mouthfeel, a good dose of tobacco, pepper, red fruits, and still gripping, but semi-rounded tannic structure. Finish is a bit on the short side yet, but still pleasant. I’m liking where these are heading. (91 pts.)
I was buying this by the truckload when it was on clearance at Wine Exchange awhile back for $13. Really excellent stuff for the money. As one of my notes on CT states…“should have bought more…”
I bought half a case at that sale - it KILLS for that price, so much so that I forgot I purchased them at $13 each. I was thinking more the $25-30 range.
