TN: 2003 Domaine de la Mordorée Lirac Cuvée de la Reine des Bois

  • 2003 Domaine de la Mordorée Lirac Cuvée de la Reine des Bois - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Lirac (7/1/2009)
Drinking fantastically, chambord, garrigue, this has really taken on classic proportions and personality. Melted licorice. Still quite dry and tannic towards the finish. Not sure if this will ease with time, or if this is a sign of some of the harshness and astringency that shows up in many wines in this vintage.
DAY 2: Still drinking wonderfully on day 2. A bit more astringency has crept in with aeration, but this is not oxidizing or falling apart in the list. Glorious Provencale flavor profile. (92 pts.)

Good to hear. I drank my first two bottles early and loved them. Planned to hold on to the last one for a few more years if I can, but perhaps it would not be a waste to drink now. I find this to be one of the 03’s that exceeded my expectations.

Had a few of this early as well.

Eric - have you had the 00 or 01 lately? Just curious about how they are drinking these days…suppose i could just look at CT.

All I have left is the 2005. I tend to drink these pretty quickly. I only got one 2001 and enjoyed it young. I even bought and enjoyed a bunch of the 2002.
