TN: 2003 Domaine Arlaud Gevrey-Chambertin "Combottes"

Cookie dough oak and ripe satsuma plums greet the nostrils. In the mouth the tannins are quite slippery and the wine has ample volume, but is still very youthful, for an eleven year old wine. Would more than likely plump for a 2010 Central Otago Pinot if tasted blind. As the wine breathes, the oak subsides a bit and it’s a wine that glides down quite easily, unhindered by abrasive tannins that I have seen in many 2003s. I have had good success with Arlaud’s wines from this unique vintage.
Cheers,
Kent
