Black and inky! This is still a monster wine, but in a good way. Huge notes of ripe berries, hints of cocoa, caramel, coconut, mocha and swedish fish! The texture is silky, but layered and very deep. You can can lost in this wine, close your eyes, take a sip and picture your favorite place, you float away into bliss. Delicious! This is in no danger of falling apart anytime soon. (94 pts.)

Thanks, Mark. Of all my Carlisles (I don’t have that many, really), the PS is the wine I look forward most to drinking…a few more years yet!

Absolutely no rush with this wine!

This wine was at Berserker Fest I you mook.

Swedish fish, Oh man those things will rot your teeth [welldone.gif]

But they’re oh so yummy!

This ‘mook’ didn’t try at least 75% of the wines there - most were gone in seconds.

Mark, I drank this wine 2 separate times this month and enjoyed it both times. Although, I have to differ with you on the wines weight/size, as I have had petites this year that were much larger in palate weight and texture than this 2003. I actually found this wine more restrained, in comparison. Sean Kennedy and I drank the last of the 2 bottles together and I think his impression was similar. FWIW, if you have the opportunity to drink the 2002 bottling, it is in a very good place, drinking excellent.

My last bottle of DCV 03. As opposed to last time (10/08), I did not get the heat signature tonight. We drank the bottle over 4 hours, through the course of some poker and cards, so I had several pours. A bit of leather, flowery aromatic, some pepper, a sweeter edge and blue/black fruits. Still some structure left in the wine so drink now or hold another year. I have some assorted 2003s still left to go and as I now log my 2007s into CT, it’s cool to see Mike now spreading his craft across several vintages.

Ripe nose but not raisiny nor pruny. Generous texture, plum, blackberry with some grip and the finish that closes down. At the same time forward with petite richness but not as big as some petites. Can let it age or drink. Our aeration time was 2 hours before the bottle was drained.

That, or failsauce.

I still have two bottles of the '03 PS. If Frenchie can find his way to Big D ever, maybe we can share one.

can you spot me $40?

For you…anything.

It’s about the win, folks…it’s about the WIN.

Frank, are you calling Mark a wuss?

I didnt’ think so.

Here are my notes from when I drank this about a month ago. I really liked it and it is actually a candidate for one of my wines of the year.

Wow, is this drinking super fine right now. Nice rich dark color. The nose just wafts fruit that is dark and blue and deep. And while all this is happening, it is just surrounded by elegance and style. Tannins are soft, but are in balance with the acid and more fruit on upon tasting. This is one of the best PS I have had in a long time. The finish is superb and leaves a lovely lingering subtle flavor that intices the next sip. WOW, WOW, and WOW again. (249 views)
