TN: 2003 Brewer-Clifton Chardonnay Mount Carmel

  • 2003 Brewer-Clifton Chardonnay Mount Carmel - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills - Sta. Rita Hills (8/2/2009)
Drank with halibut in a miso, shitake, snap pea and corn broth. Color was a golden straw color suggesting a little age and a little new oak. Nose was green apples, pear and oak spice. The palate is rich yet crisp with meyer lemon, pear, spice and a little honeysuckle with some crushed, wet rock. Finish is a touch clipped which is about the only knock on this wine. Very tasty though and definitely in the middle of its prime drinking window. (92 pts.)

Thanks for the note, Tony. I’ve got an '06 Mount Carmel sitting in the cellar for a few years. Good to know it has an expected drinking window coming up in a few.
