I’d had this on release and was underwhelmed. That said tonight it was an altogether different animal.

2003 Bindi Pinot Noir Original Vineyard - Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Macedon Ranges (3/13/2011)
impressively pure nose. Lovely, supple and round, yet focused. There’s cinnamon, nutmeg, bright cherries, and a touch of vanilla. This is not flabby or simple though, it has depth, a coolness and poise to the fruit, lovely texture, balance, and clarity. More baking spice and a hint of cola. This has lovely sap. This is a complete wine, whose sum is greater than its parts. A pleasant surprise, that is best summe dup in the word: Balance. Well done. Very long and delicious. One of the best, if not the best, Australian pinots I’ve had. At peak and probably not going anywhere soon. 92 pts. (92 pts.)
