TN: 2002 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast (USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast)

Dark, little browning, slight orange rim color. Deep floral nose of brown sugar, sandalwood/mulled spice, warm Shasta Cola, plum liqueur. Fascinating nose! Still quite young in the mouth…dark pitted fruits, same flavors as the nose, coffee, slight alcohol burn, tart cranberry acidity. I like the aged flavors of the cola and some sweet earth…but the balance is a little whacked by the burn. Finishes a little short and tart as well. Could have been better. (90 pts.)

Drinking MUCH better on day 3! No alc. burn, more of an acidic kick, which is ok. I don’t have much experience with WS…but what I find really fascinating in this wine is the deep dark fruit and spice. Really dark, almost Port-like. Really tasty! Now I might have to get more???

Locally, I have a source that has a bunch of 2001-2004’s of all Vineyards. What would be one of those to target?
