TN: 2002 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Schloßberg Riesling Spätlese

Had this last night with some Indian food I amde at home (a chicken Tikka Masala and a lamb curry). Super yummy. With the Indian the wine was light, refreshing and positively gulpable. However, the last glass finished about 90 minutes after dinner (had to take the puppy for a nice long walk at sunset) seemed to show a LOT more wright and complexity. Just goes to show, while German Riesling is an utterly fantastic quencher with Indian food, the wine shows a lot better on its own.

I really enjoyed the wines from Leitz in the early 00s (2001 and 2002), but less so the (few) wines I have tasted ever since, as IMHO they have been moving to different style with a higher alcohol, concentration, etc…plus they have gone screwcap…

haven’t had this vintage, but I truly adore the '07 of the same bottling [give_heart.gif] … and, for those who care, Leitz still puts this under cork.
