13.0% alcohol. News flash: the oak certainly has resolved here, at least in this bottle. And it’s drinking beautifully. Clear yellow color. No premature oxidation here at all. Allowed to warm to close to room temperature, and it was showing beautifully. Gorgeous, sumptuous nose of apple, pear, minerals, and slate. Viscous in the glass. Gorgeous in the mouth, an improbable combination of concentration and sheer elegance. The flavors in the mouth are so pure, reaching notes of citrus and minerals that I love about Chablis. It’s more than just the juicy apple and pear notes that are prominent. The texture is gorgeous, a legitimate competitor for the velvety feel of great Pinot. Long finish. Slight hints of oak perhaps on the nose and the finish. But nothing intrusive. This is unmistakable, if perhaps bigger-boned than some Chablis. A

Thank you for your insights on the wine. I have some & will investigate.

Yeah Verget makes some solid wines even though I am not sure how long they can age (esp 02 vintage). Just had the 02 Puligny Mont. Les Enseigneres. Very nice and gaining some complexity. I have a lot of Verget from 02 including the Chablis from various vineyards. Have not had a bad one yet, but perhaps I have had some too young.

I really have dug tons of the Verget 2002s, Bob. Drank a lot of them young. But have a couple left. On this wine, I felt like you probably aren’t going to gain much more by letting it age too much more. It’s drinking beautifully now. Not sure if there is further development to come, but I’m a bit of a rookie with white Burgs.
