2002 Shingleback Shiraz D Block Reserve - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/22/2013)
From magnum. Big and jammy on the palate with a bit of heat from the alcohol. It’s listed as 14.5% on the label but there’s clearly some poetic license going on their, as it’s easily well over 15%. The color is still extremely dark without any bricking or browning. I think it would have benefitted from decanting. It’s an excellent wine with steak, but difficult to drink more than a glass or two of due to the jammy nature. (90 pts.)
