TN: 2002 Muscadet

2002 Domaine Pierre de la Grange – Muscadet – Le L d’Or

I purchased a few bottles of this as a late release several years ago. 12% alcohol, bottle number 1761. Bright yellow, the expansive dry nose is expressive. Every sip seems to grab my palate and shake my taste buds. It’s like meeting someone for the first time and receiving a surprisingly firm handshake. Not shy, this Loire liquid prods and pushes the inside of my mouth, wanting to play. Drinking well now, pristine bottles should be good for at least several more years. The excellent 2002 vintage in the Loire continues to deliver! At this price point, who can complain?

Not me! Pulled one of my Briords a few months ago and it’s drinking really well now with plenty of upside.

Though all of these late releases are making me question having put so many away 10 years ago…

Drinking really well now, only upside if you want old wine aromas. For me, I don’t think it gets better than now.

At least you have some, Jay, or access to them. Us poor sods, OTOH.

Great note, Nicos—the sort of performance I’d hope to see out of an 02 at this stage. Mine are sadly long sailed.

Drank my last 02 Briords about 18 months ago, a lovely drop of wine.

Lovely note Nicos. Keep `em coming!

Yeah, what’s the big idea of making us buy all these wines AGAIN??

I’m holding off for another 10 years…

Thanks. Watch this space…
