2002 Pierre Matrot Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru (11/29/2009)
No ox. Tons of rocks. All good.
Seemed dark when I first poured it – shocker! – but left it in the fridge for a few hours to open up and it really did. Initially, tons of baby fat, but that gave way to crystal clear aromas of wet rocks, slight lime/apple tinge to the flavors. Nose is still shy but the palate is explosive with raw crisp fruit and tons of minerality. If it doesn’t ox then it’s poised for Greatness. (93 pts.)

2000 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Vieille Vigne - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (11/29/2009)
Sooooo solid. Really needs a good 2+ hours of air to get going. Lots of fresh earth and sweet/spicy fruit on the nose. Good persistence. This seems ready to go but there’s ample acidity to keep it fresh for a little while longer. Previous bottles seemed more stern, but this opened up nicely. (92 pts.)
