TN: 2002 Louis Jadot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots Domaine Gagey

2002 Louis Jadot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots Domaine Gagey - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (11/22/2014)
Lush, concentrated bottle of pinot. This is wide open but also preternaturally young, showing like the better 2009s did when they first landed. Rich raspberry fruit accented with plum, a touch of oak spice and a touch of more-exotic asian spice. Lowish acid but also lowish alcohol. Silky textured with a full midpalate. Very delicious, but perhaps a bit simple and unevolved. But still, very delicious. (90 pts.)

Thanks. I know the 2002’s can be charming, but the lack of complexity has been a common theme. Perhaps it’s just that it’s Jadot with this particular wine (although I’ve liked their Boudots in the past), but because of this same profile, I’ve been trying to leave my 2002’s alone for longer, hoping the complexity shows up.

this is a top wine at Jadot.

had the 2000 recently and it was absolutely stunning. I’d give the 2002 some more time and expect great things. amazing vineyard.

the best 2002s will be great as long as they aren’t cooked by the weather in 2003. still young for my palate except for some lower end wines. some are a bit dried out i’ve noticed and that might be the 2003 affect.

No, no; Jadot Boudots is classic minefield material, hardly worth the bother. Move along, move along. Nothing to see here.
