This is a good and fulfilling wine, but not really worth the asking price in comparison to a lot of humble village wines from other producers… it lacked for complexity and for purity, which left it a simple, easy to drink wine, but not really one to think about.

2002 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Les Boucherottes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (8/10/2009)
Soft earth and red fruit on the nose with a bit of a piney note and a bit of spice, also a slighly sharp component that is quite faint and hard to discern but there. On the palate this is a bit uneven with sappy red fruit, some developed earth / forest floor character but also a slightly metallic note. This has a small but definitely there bit of brett. Not necessarily bad, but certainly not beneficial in this wine. A bit short on the finish. Overall this feels like it could use another year or two to come together, but I don’t think it will develop much in the way of complexity and I don’t think it will ever truly be silken. (88 pts.)
