TN: 2002 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon

Only a handful of trick or treaters tonight so I had some time to put togheter a TN.

  • 2002 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (10/31/2010)
Popped 4 hours before consuming, slow ox’d in the bottle. Really nice color, showing minimal bricking on the edges with a blood red core. Nose is very showy, flamboyant and perfume’y. Mostly a red fruited profile with some strawberries, black cherries, pomegranate and some raspberries. Tons of sweet cream, tobacco, baking spices, vanilla oak and melted licorice. Palate is a refreshing medium body, not too thick and weighty. Dark fruit on the palate, black berries, boysenberries mixed with some toasty oak. More tobacco, cigar clippings, drying tannins that are quite firm with a long spice and fruit laden finish. Really nice wine that is built in a classic style and has shed most of its baby fat. Not as slutty as most of the 2002’s I have had this year. A great wine that is drinking well but needs some more sideways time. (93 pts.)
