TN: 2002 JJ Christoffel Erben Riesling Auslese* Urziger Wurzgarten

LIght yellow-gold in the glass; a nose with pineapple, slate and salinity. A petrol nuance begins to emerge with air.

Refreshing on the palate, and nicely balanced; there is sweetness here, but it’s kept in check by the acidity. This doesn’t strike me as unduly young, and with the caveat that I don’t drink a lot of German wine, given how accessible this is today, it also doesn’t strike me as a very long-lived wine. That said, I like it quite a bit.
